MSc 2 Big Data & Marketing Manager

Data sources: a major marketing challenge for companies Big Data is expected to represent an $80 billion worldwide market in 2020, mostly dominated by large American technology companies known as GAFAM (Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft). France succeeded in developing an ecosystem enabling the country to rank highly among world leaders, thanks to a solid basis of innovative start-up companies. Big data: tomorrow’s black gold We double the volumes of stored data every other year: incorporating data collection and analysis technologies seems thus to be more than unavoidable today for any companies engaged in digital transformation. The French State included Big Data among its 34 recovery plans for its new industrial policy, and counts on the creation of over 20 000 new direct jobs by 2020. Emerging occupations Big Data revolution inevitably results in the creation of new types of job corresponding to profiles of dedicated experts who have both marketing and technical skills, and who are able to understand algorithms and data management systems in order to control their volumes, speed and variability. These experts also need to anticipate the new services and uses, and take into account legal aspects related to personal data. A lot of work opportunities First and foremost, data experts need to master marketing strategies. Professional opportunities include data manager, data scientist, data architect, chief data officer or data visualisation expert positions. This type of skills is now required in every single business sector: finance, industry, large-scale distribution, transport sector, insurance sector, healthcare, energy, agriculture… and many jobs are yet to be invented.
